Major Russian Attacks Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water systems, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the America, the EU and the G7 - in providing protection systems and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city experienced heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults follow nights of air raids in the area, portions of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were anticipating further attacks.
